What are the things color consider when I go shopping? First, clothes that will fit me and secondly, the colors. Some people will be like, ” Oh!!! This yellow top is beautiful I love the design but it would have been perfect if it came in blue (that’s me) and I would take it”. So colors play an important role in the choice of clothes we wear. Even though we have minds that don’t pay attention to the color of clothes they wear and they still feel okay. Because the goal is for you to wear things you are comfortable with. Aesthetically speaking, some choices of color will look better in you than others will. In this post, I will be talking about how to dress for your skin tone, so that you can be sure that your fashion game is top notch.
What’s your skin tone?
Your skin tone is your natural skin color which is either dark or light. It doesn’t stop there, it expands to light, fair, medium, tan ( brown) , rich (dark brown). On the Internet, when it comes to matching your skin tone with make up or clothes, they will alwaysys talk about “undertone” which is a bit tricky. So in this post, I will stick to skin tone.
The essence of wearing colors is for someone to look at your face without distracting from it. Go for colours that won’t overpower your skin tone i.e overpowering contrast.
Colors that won’t blend in with your skin tone (no contrast)
And talking about color rules, you stick to the upper half of your body as there is more skin exposure. And for trousers just make sure they match your shoes and compliment your your top.

Colours to avoid.
With this skin tone you are just like a plain white paper and you need to use your outfits to bring some contrast to your natural color. Such as dark green, brown, navy blue, and some family of reds. Avoid neutral colors and pastels such as lemon green , sky blue, yellow, beige , mauve as they will blend or create no contrast with your skin tone. Avoid wearing an all black outfit as it’s too harsh and will create an overpowering contrast.
Colors you can wear.
Colors for medium skin tone.
This particular skin tone is a sweet and beautiful skin color. It can be tricky trying to choose colors for this skin tone as it’s in the middle of lighter tones and darker tones. It might not go well with some lighter colors such as sky blue, yellow light brown. Burgundy, dark green, purple and dark shades of blue will be good for them.

Colors for tan (brown) skin tone.
This skin tone is free to wear any light color as it will bring light to your skin tone and won’t blend in as they have a darker foundation. They also look great in darker colors. Lemon and dark green, navy and sky blue yellow and black. Just avoid brick reds and earth brown colors.
How to dress for rich (dark brown) skin tone.
This is the best skin tone ever!!! Cheers to all the rich skin tone fellas out there as you all look amazing in any color. Even black too. Mention them all blues, reds, green pastels, pink (not my fave) and dark colors. When it comes to colors to avoid….. I think you should just go with what works best for you. Just try not to mix bolder colors together, you might end up looking funny. And stay away from brown colors.
Yeah stay away from brown lols
